AmSurg, outpatient surgery center management and development company, has announced its first quarter revenue has increased 14 percent in 2013 to $260.1 million. In 2012, the company acquired 17 centers and now operates a total of 241 centers.

Balanced Solutions Compounding Pharmacy recalls sterile products.
Balanced Solutions Compounding Pharmacy in Lake Mary, Fla., has issued a voluntary recall of its sterile products. All lots of sterile products that have not expired are included in the recall due to a recent FDA inspection that found gram negative bacteria in a sample chromium chloride injection from the pharmacy.

Study links record slowdown of healthcare spending to economy.
A study conducted by experts from the Kaiser Family Foundation and Altarum Institute’s Center for Sustainable Health Spending has said the lagging economy can account for 77 percent of the nation’s slowed national health spending growth. The Healthcare spending rate is lowest it’s been in over 50 years.

ASCA to participate in 3 Capitol Fly-In events.
During the three Capitol Fly-In events, ASCA members will have the opportunity to spend the day on Capitol Hill and meet with legislators. Arizona, Florida, Ohio, Tennessee, Washington, New Hampshire, Oregon, Texas, New Jersey, Colorado and Mississippi are all participating. Eight other states have expressed interest.

California Division of Worker’s Compensation investigates e-billing violations claims.
Due to recent complaints, the California Division of Worker’s Compensation is investigating whether or not claims administrators are accepting electronically submitted medical bills. An Oct. 18, 2012 statute requires claims administrators to accept e-bills. Those not complying with the regulations are subject to civil penalties.

Avera Medical Group opens Minnesota ASC.
Avera Medical Group plans to open a multispecialty ambulatory surgery center in Worthington, Minn., after receiving licensure and certification. The center includes a procedure room and two operating rooms.

AAAHC accredits Front Range Orthopedic Surgery Center.
The Front Range Orthopedic Surgery Center in Longmont, Colo., has earned accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.
