Here are four tips Ms. Maloney has for finding the best antimicrobial fit:
1. Have a clear definition of the end-use environment for the antimicrobial technology.
2. Know any clinically relevant organisms and ask if data shows specific types of organisms are of concern for the device application. Know if the specific antimicrobial will be effective against that organism.
3. Determine specific antimicrobial performance standards in advance.
4. Determine the minimum duration of efficacy.
