Although bed bugs were reportedly found in two rooms, additional rooms are undergoing chemical treatment as a precaution to remove the bed bugs. UMC faced a previous bed bug incident this March. In that incident, four rooms were treated, though bed bug-sniffing dogs detected the pests in only one patient room, according to the news report.
The bed bugs are also being tested for MRSA. A recent study by Canadian researchers concluded bed bugs are potential carriers of the deadly infection, according to the news report.
