3 Survey Results on Diabetic Patients’ Attitudes About Drug-Delivery Devices

Cambridge Consultants, a technology design and development firm, has released the following results of a survey of diabetic patients on usability of drug delivery devices, such as injection pens, auto-injectors and insulin pumps.

1. Patients will pay more for ease-of-use. The survey found that 77 percent would be willing to pay a slight premium of about $5 for more user-friendly devices.

 

2. Patients now have more freedom of choice. The survey found that 75 percent said their physician gave them a choice of which device to use. While 28 percent simply took their physician’s recommendation, 21 percent did their own research before selecting a device.

 

3. Lifestyle is main reason for changing devices. Of those who requested a change of device, the chief reasons were lifestyle factors such as discretion (28 percent) and portability (21 percent).
