A former Boston pharmacist has been sentenced to four years in jail for defrauding Massachusetts’ Medicaid program of more than $555,000, according to a Boston Globe report.
Aloyisius Nsonwu of Rosindale, Mass., fraudulently billed MassHealth for medications that were never prescribed by a physician for dispense from his pharmacy, according to the report. Mr. Nsonwu was sentenced to charges of false Medicaid claims, larceny by false pretenses and conspiracy. He has also been ordered to pay full restitution.
Mr. Nsonwu’s pharmacist license was suspended in March 2010.
