The 28 healthcare systems represent more than 100 VHA hospitals in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. The formation of the Northeast Purchasing Coalition comes in response to decreasing reimbursements and rising costs. The health systems believe reducing non-salary expenses will ensure hospital resources are better preserved for patient care.
The members of the Coalition include Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Cape Code Healthcare in Hyannis, Mass., MaineHealth in Portland and Yale-New Haven (Conn.) Health System.
