The goal of the “virtual” network is to link multiple independent health systems in different geographic areas to form arrangements that let them act as a single, integrated entity while still maintaining the integrity of local relationships, according to the release. The network is working on telemedicine initiatives, bundled payment projects and accountable care initiatives with local employers.
Together, the 28 hospitals bring 4,000 affiliated physicians and a combined net revenue of roughly $6 billion. Members include Fond du Lac, Wis.-based Agnesian Healthcare, McHenry, Ill.-based Centegra Health System and Milwaukee-based Froedtert Health and Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare.
