Walter Janke, MD, and his wife Lalita were owners of America’s Health Choice Medical Plans, a Medicare Advantage organization for Medicare beneficiaries, and Medical Resources, a primary care provider. Both companies are no longer in business. The couple allegedly submitted false diagnostic codes to Medicare in attempts to yield greater payments from the federal healthcare program.

In addition to the settlement, the federal government successfully petitioned the court to freeze approximately $20 million in assets, which are believed to be the proceeds of their fraud scheme.
