Without the extra funding, an enhanced federal medical assistance percentage for beleaguered state Medicaid programs will expire in December. The new bill would extend the FMAP enhancement for six more months but reduce the amount to 3.2 percent in the first quarter of 2011 and 1.2 percent for the second.
