Civica Rx, a nonprofit generic drug company, and healthcare improvement company Vizient are partnering to address drug shortages.

Three details:

1. Vizient will provide data analytics to help Civica anticipate gaps in drug affordability and availability.

2. Vizient's drug shortage task force, a collaboration with healthcare organizations, works to stabilize the healthcare supply chain as well.

3. "Our experience tells us that there are many different reasons for drug shortages – so it will take a wide variety of solutions to fully solve the problems. We look forward to working with Civica to help reduce and eventually eliminate drug shortages," said Dan Kistner, PharmD, senior vice president of pharmacy services at Vizient.
