These 3 trends will rock the pharmaceutical advertising industry in 2018

STAT identified three trends it believes will change the pharmaceutical advertising industry in the coming year.

Here's what you should know:

1. STAT believes precision marketing through web-based platforms and social media could emerge in 2018. InVentiv Health's Managing Director Leigh Householder told STAT she believes 2018 will be the tipping point in terms of adoption.

She said pharmaceutical companies continue to think about the two screen experience: crafting one advertisement for the general masses and a second advertisement for patients they're specifically trying to reach.

2. STAT expects pharmaceutical companies to focus on blended advertisements. According to the article, pharmaceutical companies will attempt to launch brandless ads. American sentiment for pharmaceutical companies is historically low, so it's believed these companies will try to market their product without tying it to their brand.

3. Finally, STAT believes the FDA could play a more prominent regulatory role in 2018. To date, the new administration has been lax on advertisements, but the new year could bring changes, STAT predicts.
