Surgical Specialties Corp. formed a new business division to unite its Sharpoint brand and its two recent acquisitions, Unique Technologies and VPM Surgical.
What you should know:
1. Caliber Ophthalmics is the new division.
2. SSC tapped Yong Sun to lead Caliber Ophthalmics. Mr. Sun is now general manager of ophthalmology and the vice president of international sales.
3. Sharpoint's microsurgical knives and surgical sutures have been present in the ophthalmic market since 1969. The addition of Unique Technologies' and VPM's portfolios will expand the company's developmental and manufacturing offerings.
4. Caliber Ophthalmics plans to open an ophthalmology manufacturing and engineering center in Pennsylvania.
