Bruce Lee, MD, and his team at the Beverly Hills, Calif.-based Roxbury Surgery Center completed one of the first Acessa ProVu procedures for fibroids.

Here are four insights:

1. Dr. Lee invented the Acessa procedure in 1999 after three patients asked him for an alternative treatment solution.

2. ProVu is the third generation of the technology, developed after nearly 3,000 procedures with the first generations.

3. The treatment uses radiofrequency ablation to provide an alternative to hysterectomy and myomectomy.

4. Physicians who offer Acessa are listed here.
