Novartis freezes drug prices for 2018 — 3 insights

Novartis will not raise prices for any of its U.S.-based prescription offerings in 2018, CNN reports.

1. Novartis CEO Vas Narasimhan said the company won't raise the prices of its prescription drugs in 2018, but it will evaluate the healthcare legislative environment as it evolves.

2. Novartis originally planned increases for the third quarter of 2018.

3. The company said in a statement, "We work with governments and healthcare stakeholders in all the countries we serve, to support policies to ensure the development of and access to medicines that can improve and extend our patients' lives."
