McKesson board names new director: 4 key points

McKesson's board of directors elected a new independent director on April 24.

Here are five things to know.

1. The board elected Brad Lerman as a new independent director, increasing the board size from eight to nine members.

2. Mr. Lerman has more than 25 years of experience in government relations and corporate strategy. He is senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for Medtronic.

3. In his current role with Medtronic, Mr. Lerman leads the company's global legal, government affairs, and ethics and compliance functions. He also has experience as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for Federal National Mortgage Association.

4. McKesson aims to regularly engage with shareholders on corporate governance and aims to include "the right mix of qualifications, perspectives and experiences" on the board of directors, according to Edward Mueller, the company's lead independent director.

"The addition of Brad enhances our board's overall skill set and supports the execution of McKesson's strategy which is designed to deliver long-term growth and sustainable value creation for shareholders," he said.
