The FDA approved Prescient Surgical's CleanCision wound retraction and protection system.
Here's what you should know:
1. The device provides access to the procedure area while protecting the site with a barrier designed to prevent direct contamination.
2. Prescient said the device is intended for abdominal or colorectal procedures because of the high SSI risk both procedures pose.
3. The device can be easily integrated into a surgical workflow, said Prescient Surgical's Cofounder, President and CEO Jonathan Coe.
4. ClearCision was designed by surgeons and infection control experts.
