EpiPens in short supply, FDA warns — 4 insights

The FDA added EpiPen to its drug shortages list, after manufacturing delays disrupted available supply, U.S. News & World Report reports.

Here's what you should know.

1. Both Mylan's EpiPen and Impax's Adrenaclick auto injector were placed on the drug shortages list.

2. Both companies are facing manufacturer delays.

3. Mylan released a statement saying it is receiving continuous supply from its manufacturer.

4. Pfizer, owner of the manufacturer, said, "Pfizer takes very seriously the importance of EpiPen to everyone who needs it, and we are working tirelessly to increase production as rapidly as possible." Pfizer has increased its EpiPen production over the last few months.
