Dr. Endl 1st in area to implant new microinvasive eye stent — 3 points

Michael J. Endl, MD, became the first ophthalmologist in upstate New York to place a new microinvasive eye stent.

Here's what you should know:

1. He implanted a device called the Hydrus Microstent.

2. Dr. Endl performed the procedure at the Niagara Falls, N.Y.-based Ambulatory Surgery Center of Niagara.

3. The Hydrus Microstent received FDA approval in August.
