DJO launches 2 knee systems 'well suited' for ASCs

Medical technologies provider DJO introduced the Empowr Porous Knee System and Empowr Complex Primary Knee System at the 2018 American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons meeting, Nov. 1-4 in Dallas.

Here are three notes:

1. The Empowr Porous Knee System is made of highly porous materials optimized to enhance early implant fixation. It features a bladed keel with bone sparing geometry designed for application without cement.

2. Combined with the Empowr Universal Tibial Baseplate and Empowr Varus Valgus Constraint Tibial Insert, the Empowr Complex Primary Knee System expands DJO's implant solutions for complex primary and revision knee arthroplasty. The technologies are designed to facilitate the transition from standard primary to revision knee procedures with few instruments and trays.

3. Great Neck, N.Y.-based Northwell Health's orthopedic surgeon Eugene S. Krauss, MD, said, "The efficiency of DJO's instrument trays and the streamlined instrumentation enables my surgical team and I to perform up to 12 knee replacements in a single day, making the system well-suited for both hospital and ASC environments."
