She shared the following supply chain tip with Becker’s ASC Review:
“Additional strategies that can improve ASC profits are those that lead to ‘lean’-ing, or reducing waste, in the supply chain. These include vendor-managed inventories and consignment,” she said. “Distributors offer management of such product categories as suture and endomechanicals, ensuring a right-sizing of these inventories, and vendors may offer certain implants or other high cost goods on consignment, where they own the inventory until the ASC uses it.”
