Ms. Kerrigan shared the following tip with Becker’s ASC Review.
“Eliminating clinical processes is a popular cost-saving measure taken by ASC supply chain managers, but they may not know they have the same control over transportation costs. Does the cost of equipment or supplies include shipping? How are the supplies packaged? Bulky, hard-to-open packaging can be frustrating to open, store and discard. Is there a supplier that offers the same product but with eco-friendly packaging? By reducing the weight of a shipment by 50 lbs., supply chains can save as much as $100 on the cost of each shipment.”
