1. The average salary for supply-chain professionals rose 4.1 percent in 2017.
2. The increase in average salary for supply chain professionals outpaced U.S. wage gains for other U.S. professionals. The growth was in line with recent years.
3. Inflation and heightened tensions between the U.S. and trading partners could drive supply chain salaries to rise at an increasing rate in the coming year.
4. Fifty percent of supply management professionals surveyed by the Institute for Supply Management earned at least $100,000 in 2017, up from 47 percent in 2016.
5. Average total compensation for supply-management professionals, including bonuses, was $117,425.
6. Information technology skills and engineering expertise are in high demand.
