Associate of Indicted Indiana Physician Accused of Writing False Prescriptions

The state of Indiana has filed a complaint against Glen Ballengee for helping anesthesiologist Kamal Tiwari, MD, with write false prescriptions, according to a report by the WRTV6.

The state claims Dr. Tiwari of the Pain Management Center of Southern Indiana, who was indicted in June for healthcare fraud charges and unlawful distribution of medication, had his associate Mr. Ballengee write prescriptions for him.

Investigators say that Mr. Ballengee wrote approximately 5,000 prescriptions since May 1. Also, Mr. Ballengee allegedly left blank prescription pads with his own signature already written on them at two facilities.

Mr. Ballengee is scheduled to appear before the Indiana Medical Licensing Board this Thursday, and Dr. Tiwali will see the board in September.
