Healthcare Revenue Cycle Veteran Nader Samii Joins National Medical Billing Services

Nader Samii, co-founder and former president of Ajuba International, a leading healthcare revenue cycle management company, has joined St. Louis-based National Medical Billing Services as CEO.

Joining Lisa Rock, co-founder and president, as a partner in the company, Mr. Samii will provide additional capital to NMBS so that it can invest in "additional people, processes and technology," says Mr. Samii.

After leaving Ajuba, Mr. Samii spent a year researching potential new partners. He selected NMBS for its unique culture of customer service and because of the strong potential for growth in the ASC revenue cycle sector — a market he believes is underserved. Currently 5-10 percent of ASCs outsource their billing and coding, but industry analysts project a growth in outsourcing as billing and coding rules and regulations become even more complex, according to NMBS.

"I found the ASC sector very intriguing and met Lisa and was very impressed with how she had led and grown the company," says Mr. Samii. "NMBS has already grown 75-100 percent in the last three years, and many of its customers had nearly doubled revenues on the same volumes after switching to NMBS for revenue cycle management."

Ms. Rock says she feels "fortunate" that someone with Mr. Samii's experience in building and operating large companies has joined the NMBS team. "ASC billing and coding is poised for growth, but it is very important to us as a company that we grow in the right way," says Ms. Rock. "Not only does Nader bring strategic capital; He also brings a proven ability to add the right people, processes, technology and infrastructure for high growth — without sacrificing, even a little, the excellent customer service that we are known for."

Before founding Ajuba, Mr. Samii worked as a corporate finance attorney and as an investment banker for Merrill Lynch and UBS.
