The Spine & Pain Institute of New York Offers MRI-Safe Implantable Neurostimulation System

The Spine & Pain Institute of New York announced that it is offering patients an implantable neurostimulation system for treating chronic back and limb pain, which has received FDA approval for body MRI scans under specific conditions of use.

Patients with implanted neurostimulation systems were previously denied MRI scans due to concerns about the system being affected by the large magnetic fields and radiofrequency energy involved in MRI.

Kiran V. Patel, MD, of The Spine & Pain Institute of New York is among the first U.S. surgeons to implant a patient with RestoreSensor SureScan MRI with Vectris SureScan MRI leads, one of four Medtronic neurostimulation systems safe for MRI use.
