Employee at Medicare Contractor Convicted of Approving Phony Florida Pain Clinics

A former employee at a Medicare contractor was convicted for taking bribes to approve licenses for four South Florida clinics offering bogus pain management and other services, according to a Miami Herald report.

Stephanie Gibbs, who worked for First Coast Service Options in Jacksonville, oversaw Medicare enrollment applications submitted by Gilbert Sanabria Jr., owner of South Florida Health Care Connection, which specialized in setting up phony Medicare-licensed clinics and selling them off.

 

Ms. Gibbs is the first Medicare contract employee in the nation convicted for accepting payoffs from licensed operators.
