Dr. Nameer Haider Uses New Technique to Relieve Chronic Headaches

Nameer R. Haider, MD, director of interventional pain management at the Minimally Invasive Pain Institute in Washington, D.C., has begun performing 360 degree neurostimulator implantations to treat chronic headaches using the Boston Scientific Spectra System.

The Haidern 360 degree Halo migraine procedure is based on neurostimulation through an implanted device. The spectra system has a customized electrical pattern that can be self-adjusted via wireless remote control. The device is also the only one in the world that provides 32 contacts with one battery.

The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis.
