New Bedford, Mass.-based SouthCoast Health opened its latest Brain and Spine Center at St. Luke's Hospital, also in New Bedford, SouthCoast Today reports.
Here are four insights:
1. The integration of the Brain and Spine Center is another step toward the hospital offering a comprehensive center for brain and spine services. The center creates expedited care and reduces the number of patients needing to be transferred.
2. The center will provide neurosurgery, neurology, neuropsychology, pain management, physical medicine and rehabilitation, physical therapy and chiropractic services.
3. SouthCoast Health operates four outpatient Brain and Spine Centers throughout the state.
4. The addition of the 12-bed center is located on the fifth floor of St. Luke's Hospital, which has become "the hub" for brain and spine services.
