Growth in the outpatient spine space isn't slowing any time soon, industry leaders say.

Here are nine spine centers that were opened, announced or involved in partnerships in May 2019:

  Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital opened a 27,000-square-foot center dedicated to spine surgeries this month in Nashville, Tenn., the Nashville Business Journal reports.

SurgCenter Development is developing a spine ASC in Neenah, Wis., through a joint venture with physicians, according to the Post Crescent, part of the USA Today network.

Mercy Medical Center opened a minimally invasive spine center and tapped neurosurgeon Frederik A. Pennings, MD, as its leader, MassLive reports.

Muskegon (Mich.) Surgery Center is the state's first ASC to use Medtronic's Mazor X Stealth Edition robotic guidance platform for spine surgery.

Southwoods Health is consolidating primary care and pain services at its new, on-campus Pain & Spine Center, The Business Journal reports.

Tampa, Fla.-based Shriners Hospitals for Children plans to lay off 60 hospital employees Aug. 1, months after announcing a new focus on outpatient care, the Tampa Bay Business Journal reports.
