Optim Healthcare performs 95% of procedures as outpatient: 5 insights

Timothy Phillips, MD, is a neurosurgeon at Optim Healthcare in Brunswick, N.J. He along with his fellow surgeons strive to perform the least invasive procedures possible, according to The Brunswick News.

Here are five insights:

1. Dr. Phillips estimates 90 percent of his procedures are done with an optic microscope. At the center, 95 percent of the procedures are outpatient.

2. Optim Healthcare employs six surgeons. Dr. Phillips and two others specialize in neurosurgery.

3. The center’s most common procedures include treating herniated discs, degenerative deformities, acquired deformities, trauma, tumors and pain management.

4. Board certified in neurosurgery, Dr. Phillips spent 25 years practicing in Athens, Ga.

5. After earning his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, Dr. Phillips completed his residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
