5 things to know about Iowa City Ambulatory Surgical Center – performs 120 outpatient spine surgeries annually

Since 2008, the Iowa City Ambulatory Surgical Center has been offering patient low cost, minimally invasive outpatient surgeries.

Here are five things to know about the surgery center.

1. Physicians at the ASC spend the majority of their time performing microdiscectomy or micro compression outpatient spine surgeries.

2. The ASC estimates its physicians operate on 85 microdiscectomy patients each year.

3. Annually, the outpatient center performs approximately 6,000 procedures.

4. Iowa City Ambulatory Surgery Center is a multi-specialty facility.

5. Ben MacLennan, MD, a physician at the surgery center said, “Spine surgery has shown outstanding safety and efficacy in the ambulatory setting. We appropriately select patients using sound surgical indications and dedicate ourselves to great care for each individual patient.”
