Kurt Cobain: The lead singer and guitarist of Nirvana dealt with pain related to scoliosis since childhood and said he used the pain as an inspiration for his music.
Yo-Yo Ma: The world-famous cellist was diagnosed with a severe form of scoliosis when he was 19, and he was told it would be life-threatening without surgery. He underwent an operation to fix it and uses his recovery in the face of setbacks as motivation in the face of uncertainty.
Sarah Michelle Gellar: The actress, known for roles in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Scooby-Doo,” was diagnosed with scoliosis as a child and does activities including stretching and Pilates to manage her condition.
Shailene Woodley: The actress, who starred in the “Divergent” film series and HBO’s “Big Little Lies,” was diagnosed with scoliosis as a teenager and wore a brace for weeks to treat her condition.
