Here’s what you need to know:
1. The two clinical trials included 243 patients, including 176 who received the implant.
2. The NUsurface implant is being tested on patients who have persistent knee pain after a meniscus surgery and have exhausted their treatment options. Patients who are too old for repair and too young for a total knee replacement are also included in the trials.
3. If approved by the FDA, the NUsurface will be the first artificial meniscus that does not require fixation to bone or soft tissues.
