FH Orthopedics has sold more than 6,000 of its Cervical Prosthesis and Lumbar Prosthesis units.

Here's what you should know:

1. The devices replace damaged discs in the neck and in the lower back regions of the spine.

2. The devices mimic the function and range of movement of a natural disc. They allow the spine to behave naturally.

3. The devices consist of two titanium end plates with an elastomeric cushion of polycarbonate urethane.

4. FH Orthopedics attributes its total sales to the rising incidence rate of spine surgery.
