The study included 476 patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty at three institutions. The PreHab AI platform was used by 114 patients, providing pain management skills, exercises, nutritional advice and information on reducing medical risks. A control cohort of 362 patients did not use the PreHab platform.
The key research insights to know:
1. The PreHab system was associated with a $1,215 reduction in surgery costs.
2. A 25 percent decrease in hospital length of stay was also observed.
3. Researchers observed an 80 percent increase in patients who went home without the need for home care.
4. There was a 91 percent drop in patients discharged to skilled nursing facilities.
