6-surgeon joint replacement team now performing total knees at Iowa ASC

Steindler Orthopedic Clinic is now offering total knee replacements at Iowa City (Iowa) Ambulatory Surgical Center through its Joint Center of Excellence program.

Four insights:

1. The Iowa City ASC is a joint venture between a group of surgeons — including ones from Steindler — and Mercy Iowa City. It opened in October 2008 and has four operating rooms.

2. Steindler’s Joint Center of Excellence program "aligns providers, support teams, facilities and care navigation programs," the organization said in an announcement.

3. Steindler Orthopedic Clinic's joint replacement team includes has six surgeons: Brent Whited, MD, Brent Overton, MD, Cory Christiansen, MD, David Steinbronn, MD, Mark Mysnyk, MD, and Taylor Dennison, MD.

4. Steindler Orthopedic Clinic has locations in Iowa City, Burlington, Fairfield, Muscatine and Washington, all in Iowa. Its surgeons have performed over 350 outpatient total knee replacements.

“We know there are patients whose health status makes them a good candidate for outpatient joint replacement who would much prefer to have this procedure done on an outpatient basis and avoid an overnight stay at the hospital,” said Patrick Magallanes, Steindler president and CEO. “Providing qualified patients with an ASC outpatient option is important for our patients and our Center of Excellence program.
