Wills Eye Hospital appoints Dr. Julia Haller as CEO

Philadelphia-based Wills Eye Hospital has named Julia Haller, MD, as CEO.

In the role, Dr. Haller will oversee patient care, strategic planning, financial performance and philanthropic advancement, according to a July 17 news release from the hospital. 

Dr. Haller has served as the hospital’s ophthalmologist-in-chief for nearly 20 years and will remain in the role alongside taking on new responsibilities as CEO. 

Dr. Haller succeeds Joseph Bilson as CEO, who served the institution for more than 40 years.

Wills Eye Hospital was recently ranked as the second best ophthalmology hospital in the U.S. for 2025-26, according to U.S. News & World Report.
