WashU Medicine names new head of ophthalmology, visual sciences

St. Louis-based Washington University School of Medicine has named Aaron Lee, MD, as head of its ophthalmology and visual sciences department. 

Dr. Lee currently serves as endowed professor of ophthalmology at Seattle-based University of Washington. He is also the director of research at the University of Washington’s retina center, according to an April 1 news release. 

He has made numerous discoveries improving imaging techniques for detecting and scoring the severity of retinal diseases. 

Dr. Lee will succeed Todd Margolis, MD, PhD, who has led the department since 2014.

The appointment is effective Sept. 1, the release said.
