Versant Ventures Names James Mazzo to Chief Executive of its Ophthalmologic Company

Menlo Park, Calif.-based Versant Ventures has hired James Mazzo, former chief executive of Advanced Medical Optics, as an operating partner.

Mr. Mazzo will serve as chief executive of AcuFocus, a company in Versant’s portfolio. He will help the firm expand its ophthalmology-related opportunities.

Versant Ventures is a venture capital firm with investments in medical devices, biopharmaceuticals and life science technologies. The firm has heavily invested in eye condition treatments.
