Here are six bankruptcies, closures, layoffs and cybersecurity incidents happening in the ophthalmology space, as reported by Becker's since June 7:

Hauppauge, N.Y.-based ophthalmic group SightMD has added two new specialists in Amityville and Garden City, N.Y. 

The FDA has issued a warning letter to Regenerative Processing Plant after conducting an inspection of the facility. The plant manufactures two ophthalmic drug products, Regener-Eyes Professional Ophthalmic Solution and Regener-Eyes LITE Ophthalmic Solution.

Elkins Park, Pa.-based Salus University is removing the dean of its Pennsylvania College of Optometry as the university moves forward on a merger with Philadelphia-based Drexel University, according to a Sept. 13 report from The Philadelphia Inquirer. 

West Virginia lawmakers are looking into easing state occupational licensing regulations to allow workers from other states to work and address shortages in ophthalmologists, according to a Sept. 9 report from  The Intelligencer. 

Fort Myers, Fla.-based Collins Vision has acquired Eyecare and Surgery Center of Southwest Florida in Punta Gorda, Fla. 

Morriss Henry, MD, a pioneer in eye care and former Arkansas senator, died Sept. 8, Talk Business & Politics reported Sept. 9. 

New Providence, N.J.-based PRISM Vision Group added an ASC in Maryland to its network.

New York City-based NYU Langone's department of ophthalmology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine has tapped Roxana Fu, MD, as its chief of oculoplastics. 

Bangor-based Vision Care of Maine filed for Chapter 11 protection in August, marking the second time the surgery center has filed for bankruptcy, according to a Sept. 4 report by Bangor Daily News.
