Dr. McCannel died Dec. 30 at his home in Indianapolis. He was 96.
Dr. McCannel began his practice of ophthalmology in Minot, N.D. He then moved to Minneapolis where he established Ophthalmology, P.A. in 1949. He remained there for 42 years until retiring in 1991. Dr. McCannel was the developer of the McCannel Suture.
He received his MD in 1941 from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia.
