How ophthalmologist salaries have kept up with inflation

Ophthalmologists earned a mean annual wage of $312,120 in 2023, an increase of more than $46,000 from the average annual wage the profession earned in 2022, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The change in 2023 salary from the 2022 salary is an increase of more than 17%, which is well above the 2023 U.S. inflation rate of 4.1%.
