The pilot telemedicine program, led by board-certified ophthalmologist Rajeev Ramchandran, MD, connects Flaum Eye Institute, Rochester General Health System’s ophthalmology department and primary care physicians. The goal of the program is to screen diabetic patients at risk of vision loss. The current screening rate is 10 percent and the telemedicine program seeks to raise it to 80 percent.
Three Rochester General Health System practices are currently using the program.
