The Supreme Court has decided not to hear a challenge to the Affordable Care Act's Independent Payment Advisory Board at this time, according to the Goldwater Institute.
IPAB was born out of healthcare reform to make recommendations for Medicare reimbursement. The board is unpopular among physicians and many in the healthcare industry. However, the Supreme Court will not hear the current challenge.
The Court recently heard King vs. Burwell, a challenge to the healthcare insurance exchange subsidies for individuals who obtain healthcare through state-run exchanges. A decision for King would remove the subsidies and could have a huge negative impact on state-exchange beneficiaries.
