Interstate physician licensing could happen more quickly in nine states if new legislation is passed, according to a Newswise report.
The Medical Licensure Compact final model legislation was released last September and more than 25 medical and osteopathic boards have expressed support publicly for the compact since then. The legislatures in these states are already moving to speed the process to speed up the licensing process for physicians:
• Iowa
• Minnesota
• Nebraska
• Oklahoma
• South Dakota
• Texas
• Utah
• Vermont
• Wyoming
The compact would streamline the interstate licensing to improve access to care for patients multiple jurisdictions to help underserved populations.
