Cocaine Users Face 45% Higher Risk of Glaucoma

A Department of Veterans Affairs study found that current and former cocaine users had a 45 percent increased risk of glaucoma, mainly open-angle glaucoma, according to a Journal of Glaucoma report.

The study also found that men with open-angle glaucoma had significant exposure to amphetamines and marijuana, though less so than cocaine.

Patients with open-angle glaucoma and history of exposure to illegal drugs were nearly 20 years younger than those without such history.
