Here are seven things for ASC leaders to know for Thursday, April 4, 2013.

ASC Medicare claims delayed two weeks.
CMS has announced that due to technical issues all ambulatory surgery center claims pending with or received by Medicare on or after April 1 will be delayed until April 14. CMS said provider cash flow should remain unaffected, as clean electronic claims cannot be paid sooner than 14 days after receipt.

CMS to raise Medicare Advantage rates.
CMS has announced that instead of lowering Medicare Advantage plans by 2.3 percent, it will implement a 3.3 percent raise next year.

Expansion of Medicaid funds announced.
Beginning in 2014, HHS will pay 100 percent of the state cost to insure certain newly eligible Medicaid beneficiaries in states that expand the program. HHS payments will be paid in full through 2016 and taper down to a 90 percent matching rate by 2020.

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports physicians hold 9 out of 10 highest paid jobs.
A U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics report named various physician and CEO positions as the highest-compensated professional jobs.

OA Orthopaedics, Central Maine Orthopaedics to merge with Spectrum Medical Group.
OA Orthopaedics in Portland, Maine and Central Maine Orthopaedics in Auburn have announced that they have signed a letter of intent with Spectrum Medical Group for a possible merger of the practices, which both include ASCs. If the merge is completed Spectrum Medical Group will develop an orthopaedics division.

Florida Holy Cross announces plan for a series of ambulatory care centers.
Holy Cross Hospital in Florida has opened a 7,965-square-foot ambulatory care center in Fort Lauderdale, the first of a series of centers expected to open throughout southern Florida.

Metro Health seeks approval for $11.9M surgery center.
Metro Health, a Wyoming, Mich.-based healthcare system, has filed a letter of intent with the Michigan Department of Community Health seeking approval for an $11.9 million, 80,000-square-foot surgery center in Grand Rapids.
