Here are seven news updates for ambulatory surgery center leaders to know for Nov. 11, 2013.

ASCA announces 2014 Capitol Fly-In dates.
The Ambulatory Surgery Center Association has announced the 2104 Capitol Fly-In Program dates: June 17 to 10 and September 9 to 10. In 2013, more than 130 advocates participated in Capitol Fly-In events.

Administrator Vickie Arjoyan earns CASC & BSN.
Vickie Arjoyan, facility administrator and director nursing at Specialty Surgical Center-Brighton Way in Beverly Hills, Calif., has earned her CASC credential and bachelor of science in nursing degree. She also celebrated her 15th anniversary with the Symbion-affiliated ASC.

Physicians Endoscopy receives cost management award.
Physicians Endoscopy, endoscopy center management and development company, received the Cost Management Preference Award at the 2013 MedAssets Healthcare Business Summit.

Vivere Health & Dr. Kenneth Moghdam open joint venture surgery center.
Vivere Health and reproductive endocrinologist Kenneth Moghdam, MD, have opened the Vivere-Austin Surgery Center. The surgery center includes two operating rooms, an andrology laboratory and in-vitro fertilization laboratory. The center will focus on fertility issues.

NVISION Laser Eye Centers acquires California medical group.
NVISION Laser Eye Centers has acquired Capital Eye Medical Group in Carmichael, Calif. This acquisition is NVISION's third in northern California this year.

Early enrollment in PPACA exchange low.
HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has told the Senate Finance Committee that early enrollment rates for the federal exchange under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will be very low. HHS intends to release enrollment numbers next week. The site is expected to run smoothly for most visitors by the end of the month.

5 top insurers report $3.7B in Q3 profit.
The nation's five largest investor-owned insurers, UnitedHealth Group, WellPoint, Aetna, Humana and Cigna, reported $80 billion of combined revenue in the third quarter of fiscal year 2013. Of that $80 billion, $3.7 billion was pocketed as profit.
