The Green Mountain Care Board has unanimously approved a freestanding multispeciality surgery center in Hartford, Vt., according to a June 11 report from Vermont Public.

The Upper Valley Surgery Center will have four operating rooms and provide services including orthopedic, spine, gynecological and urologic procedures.

The 15,000-square-foot ASC is planned to open in 2027.

Vermont currently only has two freestanding surgery centers, and just one is a multispecialty facility, the report said.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
