UC San Diego Health was given $25 million by the McGrath Family Foundation in support of the development of the health system's new outpatient center.
In recognition of the gift, the 250,000-square-foot facility will be named the McGrath Family Foundation Outpatient Pavilion, according to a Dec. 5 news release from the health system. The center is slated to open in 2025 and will house outpatient surgery rooms, endoscopy procedure rooms and specialties including neurosurgery, urology and orthopedics.
The location will also be used to expand UC San Diego's multispecialty cancer clinics and infusion centers.
The outpatient pavilion is part of the first phase of UC San Diego Health's more than $3 billion redevelopment project that aims to replace the entire UC San Diego Hillcrest Medical Campus over the next 10 to 15 years, the release said.
